Dhruv Ghulati

Dhruv Ghulati

CEO and Research Scientist

Dhruv holds a Distinction in Computer Science and Machine Learning from University College London, and a 1st Class BSc in Economics from the LSE. He was a product manager and co-founder of two London based machine intelligence startups, and is an Entrepreneur First alum and Forbes 30 Under 30 leader in Technology. He wrote his thesis in cost-sensitive classification and distant supervision for statistical claim detection.

Head of Product

Mike is an ex-Swiftkey, ex-Microsoft product manager with 15+ years experience managing products. He has built out consumer products based on machine learning systems around predictive keyboards and recommendation engines.

Lusine Mehrabyan

Lusine Mehrabyan

Community Manager

Lusiné comes from the world of biology and economics with experience in community development projects across the world. She started her career with focus on ethics of medical technology and public health initiatives working on community development projects across eight countries in Latin America. She also worked on anti-corruption projects in the public sector at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). She holds degrees from the London School of Economics in Economic and Public policy and Cornell University in Biology and Society.

Chris Applegate

Chris Applegate

CTO

Chris was formerly Editorial Developer in the newsroom at BuzzFeed UK, and part of the team nominated as 2018 Pulitzer Finalist in International Reporting. Before that he was Lead Creative Technologist at the social media agency, We Are Social, and has also worked for Google and Cambridge University. He possesses degrees in Computer Science and Science & Technology Studies, from Cambridge and Edinburgh Universities, respectively.

Francesco possesses a Masters in Knowledge Engineering from TU Delft, and his past work experience includes consultancy on Data integration and Data Science, and teaching assistance on Machine Learning. His work at Factmata involves creating the engineering tools to help solve the problem of growing online misinformation today. His mission: prove that the misinformation problem created by technology can be solved by technology.

Rishab Shukla

Rishabh Shukla

NLP Engineer

Rishabh graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering and has been working on NLP and Deep Learning for last few years. Previously, he has been the CTO with a New Delhi based Machine Learning Startup and a Google Summer of Code Intern. He is involved with the research and development work of NLP Models to tackle misinformation and fake news.

jordi Ventura

Jordi Ventura

NLP Engineer

Jordi was awarded Spain's Extraordinary Graduation Prize in General Linguistics by the University of Barcelona, and he was part of the first generation of students who graduated from that same university's Masters program in Natural Language Processing and Cognitive Science. He has 15 years of experience conducting state-of-the-art work on a wide range of NLP technologies, from document classification and machine translation, to semantic parsing and sentiment analysis. He combines his technical background with industry experience in senior positions at companies including Telefonica, Grammarly, and WebInterpret.

Zeerak Waseem

Zeerak Waseem

Ph.D. Intern

Zeerak is a PhD candidate at Sheffield University in NLP where he focuses on hate speech detection. His work deals with domain adaptation for hate speech detection, to allow building models that can utilise disjoint datasets. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Copenhagen, where he focused on intersecting feminist theory with NLP for hate speech detection.

Shikhar Chauhan

Shikhar Chauhan

NLP Engineer

Shikhar is a graduate in Mathematics and Computing from Delhi College of Engineering. While still in college he worked on an EdTech startup and helped grow another, and was also a world finalist at Facebook Hackathon 2016. Before coming to Factmata he worked with Machine Learning in the domain of Health and Fitness. At Factmata, he is involved in development of Machine Learning models to tackle deceptive and misleading content.

Louis is a social science graduate from LSE and Cambridge whose interest in the media led him to build the customer base of Echobox, an AI company managing the Social Media distribution of the largest newspapers in Europe (Le Monde, The Independent, The Evening Standard). A pop music composer and History buff in his spare time, he's in charge of growing Factmata's footprint worldwide.

Martin Hartt

Martin Hartt

NLP Engineer

Martin is a MPhil graduate in Advanced Computer Science from the University of Cambridge and has a bachelors degree from King's College London. For his research projects he reimplemented and analysed state-of-the-art approaches for headline generation and built algorithms to extract database schemas from natural language descriptions. Before starting at Factmata he was developing question-answering systems for law advice at Lexsnap.

Daniil Sorokin

Daniil Sorokin

NLP Engineer

Daniil is a PhD candidate in NLP at the Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany. His work is focused on linking texts to knowledge bases and incorporating factual information into NLP applications. He has published on the topics of relation extraction, automatic question answering and claim verification. Daniil holds a master's degree in Computational Linguistics from the University of Tübingen.

Dr. Sebastian Riedel

Dr. Sebastian Riedel

Co-founder

Sebastian is a Reader at University College London and leading the Machine Reading Lab. He is an Allen Distinguished Investigator, Marie Curie fellow and received a Google Focused Research award. Sebastian is generally interested in the intersection of Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning, and particularly interested in teaching machines to read and to reason with what was read. He has published various papers on this topic, covering questions related to scalable inference, probabilistic programming and representation learning.
